a midsummer night’s dress

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Inspired by the comical novel A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, I illustrated two somewhat modernized designs for the fairies. Shakespeare so skillfully utilized particular names and symbols to emphasize multiple themes regarding love and dreams. Furthermore, Shakespeare was able to stress on the particular “charm” the fairies had amongst themselves –whether they were good or bad (hence Puck.) Similarly, I attempted to focus on that charismatic detail. The drawing portrays intricate designs that were placed in order to give off a lush-like reaction.
